Olympic Champion David Rudisha Survives Grisly Road Accident

Two-time Olympic 800m champion David Rudisha on Sunday sustained injuries after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a road crash.

Rudisha was heading to his home in Kilgoris, Narok County when his car collided with a passenger bus at Nyansiongo area on the Kijauri-Keroka Highway.

Confirming the incident, Keroka OCPD Walter Abondo said the 30-year-old world record holder’s car rammed into the public service vehicle from behind.

The middle-distance runner sustained minor injuries and was rushed to Keroka sub-county Hospital where X-ray conducted on him showed no fractures. He was treated and discharged while his badly-damaged vehicle was towed to Keroka Police Station.

None of the bus passengers sustained injuries during the 2 am incident.

"I am well and unhurt from this morning's accident. Thank you for your prayers and concern. And above all I thank God for keeping everyone else involved safe. A special thank you to the other road users who rushed to the scene to help me out of the car after the incident!"Rudisha posted on Facebook.

We lost DeMathew who rammed behind a truck and now Rudisha rams behind a passenger bus? I suspect alcohol and driving is rampant in Kenya. Our government must go zero tolerance on drinking and driving- saves lives.
