Isuzu Gifts Marathoner Kipchoge Sh4 Million Car after INEOS Challenge
Isuzu East Africa on Saturday gifted Kenyan marathon star Eliud Kipchoge a brand new vehicle worth Sh4.1 million.
Kipchoge was awarded the Isuzu D-Max single cab pick-up following his heroics at the INEOS 1:59 challenge in Vienna, Austria last month.
Before the race, Isuzu had promised to award him a brand new car if he broke the sub-two-hour marathon barrier.
The 34-year-old runner went ahead to complete the 42-kilometer race in a record 1:59:40, becoming the first human being to run a marathon in less two hours.
Speaking while receiving the car, the world marathon record holder said that finishing a competitive 42km race in under two-hours is possible.
His record in Vienna on October 12th was not ratified by the World Athletics since the race was run in favored conditions.
“If I could break the sub-two-hour barrier then it is possible to complete a normal marathon in less than two hours. There is no much difference because the course was 42km like any other. It is only about believing in yourself,” said Kipchoge.
“I went to Vienna to show the world that everything is possible and today I am here to collect my car (laughs). I am also working hard to achieve more feat.”
Isuzu East Africa Managing Director Rita Kavashe said: “Eliud has been our brand ambassador and we have traveled a long journey with him. We decided to support Eliud because we saw we could give him an opportunity to win. In our organization, we do not believe in limitations.”
This is Kipchoge’s second car from Isuzu as he was also feted with an Isuzu D-max double cabin pick-up worth Sh5.9 million when he set a new world record of 2 hours 01 minute 39 seconds last year at the Berlin Marathon.

I agree. If a company can gift 2 trucks back to back totaling 10M,how about supporting orphanages, or needy kids that miss life opportunities year after year?. Kenya has lots of monetary resources to support good courses but focus is on already well up cases.
