DCI Detectives Arrest Kenyan Computer Science Expert over Cyber-Espionage

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a Kenyan man for allegedly engaging in cyber-espionage.

The suspect, Archibald Kalela Mwandawiro, was nabbed by sleuths from DCI’s Special Service Unit (SSU) at his home in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta county on Sunday.

DCI described Mwandawiro, 56, as a widely traveled computer science expert at a local university.

Devices used in the interception, access, and transmission of messages to unauthorized recipients were found in his house during the operation.

Also recovered from the house were two Global Systems for Mobile communications (GSM), one fitted with 512 sim cards, four internet routers, a GSM Skyline inserted with 64 Safaricom sim cards, 25 modems, 83 Airtel sim cards, 76 Safaricom sim cards, electric inverter, a HP laptop, mobile handset among others.

“It has since been established that the widely traveled suspect is a computer science expert from a local university, who sends espionage materials to a country in the West,” DCI said in a statement posted on Twitter.

“He is in custody as further investigations continue.”

Please report him to relevant IT certification bodies to revoke all his certifications in his possession and ensure and probe which ports he frequently used out of 65535, and advise affected companies and others to update their security policies. Kudos DCI and let me know if I can be of any help.

DCI use computers donated by the British government and KDF use cars donated by the US governments.

All those equipment have monitoring and tracking devices.

Just thought you should know.

Is it worthy it? The western people are free and the fool African will go to sale. Men why are you all greedy... look at the kenya political scene, Men and the two senior Men who are not talking to each..,.. yaani Uhuru and Ruto .. you know how we women behave and we do not talk to each other and now it has caught up with men. Anyway back to the Taita guy ... heading to jail and finished for pesa kidogo and the Bible says... He heaps up riches and does not know who will gather them... that goes for Uhuru, Ruto, Odinga, Kagwe and all other thugs in Kenya. Yaani God will deal with them all so So not worry people God will deal with them.

The China government has military installations in Kenya like the SGR.
The British government donated computers to DVI.
The USA government donated vehicles to KDF.

All these countries have installed monitoring and tracking devices inside government offices in Kenya.

Accusing the guy of espionage is very far fetched. The Kenyan government is giving the information to these countries in the “West” for free.
