Inspector-General of Police’s Son in Trouble After Hitting and Killing Two Motorcyclists in Nairobi

Police are investigating an incident in which the son of Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai killed two motorcycle riders on the Southern Bypass in Nairobi.

David Mwendwa, who was allegedly driving while intoxicated, is said to have run over a pedestrian before colliding with two motorcycles.

The two motorbike riders died on the spot while the pedestrian survived and is currently admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

It is alleged that Mwendwa fled the scene in the company of two women who were aboard his Toyota Hilux at the time of the Thursday night incident. Mwendwa reportedly presented himself at Lang’ata Police Station a day after the accident.

The absence of the vehicle’s wreckage or a police report on the accident at Lang’ata Police Station triggered claims of a cover-up but Nairobi County Traffic Commandant Joshua Omukata has refuted these allegations.

“Even if he is the son of the IG (inspector-general), the thing ahead of us is an accident. We are not investigating the son of the IG we are investigating the accident. It is not about other personalities,” Omukata said.

Omukata says the suspect will undergo a medical examination to determine whether he was drunk at the time of the accident.

“At this point, investigations about the accident are at an advanced stage and in due course, our file will complete once we obtain crucial evidence regarding the accident before we submit the file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice,” the National Police Service said in a statement.

Mwendwa could face charges of causing death by dangerous driving.

The relatives of the dead cyclists should have revenged by now.Why wait?Nothing happened to thug King’ori Mwangi after killing two people three months ago.Omukata should have remained silent instead of talking about medical examination for alcohol taken even yesterday.

Agree. Once it’s a prominent individual involved, your goose is cooked. Best thing is to hunt him down, take care of him yourself. The poor man has no protection in the law when facing such high ranking official

So, he runs home and hides long enough to sober up, then his fat ass shows up and there’s no report of the entire thing anywhere? Damn. Banana republic kweli. The goose is cooked already.

That’s a very big boy. He looks like the Michelin tire man. He looks inflated and ready to float in the air at any min. This is an open and shut case, no way he’ll get convicted. Kenyas Justice system favors the rich and prominent.
It’s sad three families lost loved ones because fat boy here thought it was okay to drink and drive. May these families find peace and comfort.

This is laughable. They want to run his blood alcohol level over 24hrs after the fact? My gosh! Ile ujinga iko Kenya.. sad to say he might get away with it.

It's a SHAME that KENYANS have lost faith in the JUDICIAL SYSTEM.
But,I bet all of us know what's going to happen. BECAUSE KENYA is RULED THROUGH FEAR. LET'S just imagine what would happen to the witnesses and the JUDGE,if this kid is found Guilty....
Again, in KENYA MONEY TALKS, so most likely the FAMILIES will get PAID and this SMALL MATTER will be finished in THE JUDGES CHAMBER.

I can bet my money that the fatboy aka IG's son will never be convicted. What a sad state of affairs Kenya has become. This is similar to the case of Dj Evolve and Babu Owino or Governor Obado and the deceased Sharon- Banana State will always protect the mkubwa.
