Mang’u High School’s Jeriel Ndeda Emerges Top Student in the 2021 KCSE Exam

Mang'u High School’s Jeriel Ndeda Obura is the overall top student in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
Ndeda emerged the best performer with an A of 87.167 points followed by Timothy Mukuha Kamau of Alliance High School with 87.139, Job Ngara Kamau of Mang'u (87.116), David Chege Kamau of St Joseph's Boys High School, Kitale (87.104), Musa Tepo Ramadhan of Light Academy (87.103), Cicily Muendo Mutheu of Kenya High School (87.086), Ian Mwai Toyota of Kakamega School (87.084), and Shekinah Peta of Kenya High School (87.079).
Other top performers include Daniel Ouma Mshindi of Light Academy (87.076), Brenda Cherotich of Kipsigis Girls' High School (87.066), Job Ngatia Mugane of Strathmore School (87.064), Pretie Ariona of Kapsabet High (87.059), Caleb Mutethya of Mang'u (87.057), Melanie Nelima of Kenya High (87.047) and Millicent Wamuru Maina of Kenya High (87.04).
Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha while announcing the results said a total of 1,138 candidates obtained an overall Grade A in last year’s exam compared to 893 in 2020.
The number of candidates who attained the minimum university entry qualification of Grade C+ and above rose to 145,145 in the 2021 KCSE exam compared to 143,140 in 2020.
The cabinet secretary noted that the number of candidates with a minimum Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Diploma courses qualification of grade C- and above in 2021 was 325,896.
“We, therefore, need to invest more in TVET institutions where the bulk of our KCSE examination grandaunts will study,” he said.
A total of 831,015 candidates sat the 2021 KCSE exam in 10,413 centres across the country.
