Court Bars IEBC from Clearing UDA Kiambu Senate Candidate Karungo Wa Thang'wa

The High Court has barred Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from clearing Kiambu senate aspirant Karungo wa Thang'wa to run in the August 9th elections.

Thang'wa, a former Kiambu County Executive Committee (CEC) member, is vying for the senatorial seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.

Justice Anthony Mrima barred IEBC from clearing Thang’wa until a case challenging his eligibility to contest or hold a public office is heard and determined.

"Pending further orders of the expanded Bench, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is hereby prohibited from clearing the 1st Respondent herein, Paul Karungo Thang'wa to vie as a candidate for any elective office at the 9th August 2022 general elections and/or printing ballot papers bearing his name and/or symbol," Justice Mrima ordered.

The petition was filed by Kelvin Njui Wangari, who wants Thang’wa barred from vying on grounds that he was impeached from office over alleged gross misconduct.

Thang’wa was impeached by the Kiambu County Assembly in October 2019 while serving as the CEC in charge of Youth Affairs and Sports

Nice. Clean the house of corrupt politicians. They are a huge burden to the well-being of kenya and Kenyans at large.
