Ruto Says He Will be Ruthless in the War Against Corruption
President William Ruto has declared he will go full throttle in the war against graft and that he will not pardon anyone.
Stating that he will lead the war against corruption, Mr Ruto declared he will be ruthless. He added that his government will not allow corruption to thrive and that he has communicated the same to his allies.
"I will take personal responsibility for accountability for resources. No one will be allowed to steal the republic's resources You try ... you will encounter me personally," he said.
Ruto spoke in Kandara constituency, Murang'a County during the burial of presidential aspirant David Waweru Ng'ethe. Waweru rose to occupy Kandara's parliamentary seat following the nullification of George Mwicigi's win. The deceased was the father of Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie.
In the past few days, the head of state has displayed his stern intentions against graft by sacking the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (Kemsa) board and suspending 27 other government officials linked to the sugar scandal. Ruto's presence at the burial was flanked by Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata, Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wa, Budget committee chair Ndindi Nyoro and Murang'a Woman Representative Beatrice Njeri.
Muranga Woman Rep urged Ruto not to allow thieves and underperformers to overwhelm the country during his reign. She conveyed that the ruling party will give President Ruto the leeway to remove and prosecute leaders tolerating corruption. Murang'a governor Irungu Kang'ata praised the president for cracking the whip on Kemsa, which Mr Kang'ata believes has been a source of death for many people.
"People who can steal medicines meant for poor Kenyans must be tackled hard and ruthlessly. We stand by you. Hit them hard," he said.
Majority leader Kimani Ichungwa said the devil of graft denies Kenyans many opportunities and therefore Ruto ought to tackle it with finality.
"Let us manage this war. Corruption denies us so many benefits and makes our populace so sceptical that all funds will end up stolen," Mr Ichung'wa said.

I commend you for pointing out to these politicians who take us for granted. As a matter of fact, they think and believe that the Kenyan people are fools.

Ni lazima IEBC iliyopo sasa ipigwe marufuku na kuwachagua viongozi ambao watahakikisha ya kwmba, Sura ya Sita ya Katiba yetu mpya ya Kenya imefuatiliwa ili watu wote wanaotaka kugombea uongozi wa nchi wawe ni watu wema ambao wanaweza kuiinua nchi yetu kutoka kwenye uhalifu uliopo sasa wa utawala wa kimabavu wa Samoei.
