DPP Nominee Renson Ingonga Reveals He’s Worth Sh300 Million

Renson Ingonga, the nominee for Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), has declared that he has a net worth of Sh300 million.

During his vetting by the National Assembly's Legal and Justice Affairs Committee on Thursday, August 31, Ingonga said his wealth comprises his current residence and family property. Additionally, Ingonga, who is currently serving as an assistant DPP, lamented over insufficient funds in the prosecutors' office and called for more financing. If approved, Ingonga will replace Noordin Haji who left to serve as the Director of National Intelligence Service (NIS).

“The biggest problem at ODPP is funds, we are not able to meet our needs. We cannot even buy a camera for the communication department,” Ingonga told the committee.

A seven-member selection panel chaired by Solicitor General Shadrack Mose shortlisted Ingonga along with 14 other candidates for the job. National Assembly's Legal and Justice Affairs Committee will assess Ingonga's suitability for the position and present its report to the House within 21 days. A list of candidates who had been shortlisted for the position included Jacinta Nyamosi, Victor Mule, Tabitha Ouya, David Ruto, Francis Andayi, Winston Ngaira, Peter Mailanyi, Lilian Okumu, Jacob Ondari, James Ndegwa, David Okachi, and Renson Ingonga.

In July, Miguna conveyed on social platform X his desire to vie for the DPP position following Noordin Haji's departure. Several other solicitors who expressed their interest in the job include Danstan Omari, Kioko Kilokumi, Katwa Kigen, and Cliff Ombeta.
