Kalonzo’s First Visit to State House Since Ruto Took Power

On Tuesday evening, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka attended a dinner at the State House with delegates and heads of state.
The event was hosted by President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto. Kalonzo was dressed in an elegant navy blue suit with white stripes and a light blue tie. During the dinner, he was seen chatting with Lands Cabinet Secretary Zachariah Mwangi and his Transport counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen. He also snapped a photo with the cabinet secretaries and Attorney General Justin Muturi.
This marks Kalonzo's first visit to the State House since Ruto took office in September 2022. The dinner setting was adorned with subdued lighting with the President and First Lady clad in black outfits. Maasai dancers entertained guests as they arrived at the event.
The summit has brought together many notable figures, including 12 former Heads of State, 66 ministers from various countries, and over 20 leaders of international organizations, donor agencies, and development banks. The summit is centred on discussing ways to help African countries cope with the adverse effects of climate change. Additionally, it provides a platform to influence commitments and pledges ultimately leading to the development of the Nairobi Declaration.
On the second day of the summit, the meeting between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga caused a stir due to their political differences. Gachagua, who was tasked with welcoming guests, had a brief conversation with Odinga before the program began.
