NASA Rekindles Threat to Boycott August 8 Election
The National Super Alliance (NASA) has once again rekindled their threats of boycotting the August 8 elections, if their demands are not met. Siaya senator James Orengo said that the opposition outfit will not take part in the August 8 elections if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) does not cancel the ballot printing tender it awarded to a Dubai based firm.
"We will not accept Al Ghurair Company's bid to print the ballot papers. We will deal with the issue firmly before the August 8 general election." Orengo Warned.
The senator vowed that they will not rest until they ensure that Kenya will this time round has credible, free, fair and verifiable elections. "We will fight these acts of connivance until everything is done according to the law as defined by the Constitution," Orengo said.
Ugunja Member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi echoed Orengo's remarks and called on the International Community to intervene and ensure that no rigging will take place. "Our supporters will not accept to participate in an election that has already been rigged. There is already a crisis," Wandayi said. "We cannot go to an election where our opponent is part and parcel of the process of printing ballot papers," he added.
"There is no way that the government will force a pre-rigged election on the throats of citizens," Wandayi added.
