Isaac Rutto Ditches NASA for Jubilee

In a new twist of events, former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto has ditched opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) for Jubilee.

On Friday morning, Rutto was among leaders who welcomed President Uhuru and William Ruto after they landed in historic Kapkatet grounds in Kericho for a campaign rally.

Rutto was accompanied by former Kuresoi South MP Zakayo Cheruiyot, Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno and Narok's Patrick Ole Ntutu to welcome the two Jubilee leaders at the grounds.

Speaking during the rally at the grounds, Rutto said he is back to Jubilee and pledged support for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming repeat poll. "I have come back to support President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, I realized I had few followers. I have come back to join you," he said. "Today I have returned (to) where I belong," Mr Ruto said as he addressed an excited crowd.

Rutto joined Nasa as the fifth principal after teaming up with Raila, Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya) ahead of the August 8 general election.

He suffered defeat in the hands of Jubilee's Joyce Laboso for Bomet governor seat and accepted the outcome of the polls. He shocked many when he attended the swearing-in of the new Governor and promised to work with her to develop the county.

The Chama Cha Mashinani leader has been conspicuously missing in NASA rallies since he was defeated. In a press briefing last week, NASA chief campaigner Mudavadi insisted Rutto was still in NASA. Few days ago, Rutto has denied reports that he was going to join Jubilee and insisted that he was in Nasa to stay.
