NASA MPs Ready to Resign for a Fresh General Election, ODM Leader Says

John Wanjohi Nov 09, 2017

Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi says that he and other National Super Alliance (NASA) MPs are ready to resign from Parliament in preparation for a fresh General Election.

“Leaving our seats vacant is not a problem. The current crisis can be solved when a fresh election is ordered,” he said.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP further said that Parliament was to blame for the political crisis the country is staring at, saying it should be dissolved to pave way for a fresh election.

“Parliament has failed in its duties to end the current political problems the country is facing, it should therefore be dissolved to pave way for a fresh election,” claimed Atandi.

Speaking during the burial ceremony of Ms Jane Were, a former civic leader in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, Atandi also noted that operations of the National Assembly and the Senate as currently constituted is unconstitutional.

“The solution to the current crisis is to have parliament dissolved to enable Kenyans go for fresh elections. We instead are going to have peoples’ assemblies which Kenyans are going to use in agitation for fresh polls,” he said.

“Parliament has failed to give direction in the current political stalemate pitting President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga. It deserves to be dissolved immediately,” said Atandi.

He vowed that Nasa will not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as a validly elected President.
