Kenyan Student Earns Study Trip to the US after Winning Cisco Computer Competition
A Kenyan student has earned himself a one week study trip to the United States after emerging as one of the top performers in a networking competition conducted by American computer accessories firm Cisco.
21-year-old Charles Mutua, a Bachelors of Computer Science student at Kenyatta University, emerged the first runners-up in the competition.
During his study trip to the US, Mutua will will visit among other places Google and Facebook headquarters in California. He will also tour Stanford University
Mutua and Hamza Jebbour from Morocco are the two finalists of the competition involved designing and configuring a computer network in a real life.
David Brunei, the Cisco manager in-charge of the East Africa market said: “The two competed with over 15,400 entrants globally to win a study trip prize to Cisco headquarters in San Jose, United States.”
Mutua said: “We expect to meet and interact with high level engineers of the various technology giants who will share about their daily experiences interacting with networking devices, developing and implementing new networking solutions.”
