Kenyans Online Mock Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko over Poorly Sculpted Lion Statue Erected in the City
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has come under sharp criticism from Kenyans online over a statue erected in Nairobi CBD.
This comes after photos of a lion statue erected on University Way roundabout went viral on social media.
Kenyans online users have posted mocking remarks about the statue, some questioning its quality while others raised queries on the tendering process and how much it cost to erect it.
Majority of them argue that the statue of the lion was not professionally sculpted and could only bring shame to the Kenyan capital instead of beautifying it as intended by Sonko.
Here are some of the comments from Kenyans online:
"Why, Sonko, why? Now that we are on the topic of beautification, does anyone have pictures of those disco-looking lights on the highway roundabouts? Please share… we need to stop this while we can," @lwalubengo tweets.
"Add a few hyenas and it is the elephant graveyard in Lion King," @arungaian writes.
"Even the lion himself appears not convinced he's a lion," @Quiet_Watch says.
"This scares away visitors. Get it removed, Mhe @MikeSonko," @CMwabili appeals.
"I saw a white tourist stop to take a photo with one of this sculpture at city hall. So probably Nairobians are not the target," @drizzentic explains.
"That nonsense is placed strategically at the University way roundabout. Two are at City Hall entrance. The question is who supplied them, how much did it cost and was the tendering done,"@DeograciousEkw2 asks.
"There's no cure for a man with bad taste," @Muchaiki tweets.
"Our sculptors are known for producing quality sculptures!! This must be from Wakanda!!"@siambiliki notes.
"Is it resting or hunting? It's making faces like we did to Mrs Omondi whenever she turned towards the blackboard," @kelienick tweets.
"By the time he's done, Nairobi will be looking as hideous as Sonko Family Ranch…"@ZeFlexxx says.
" The real question dat will get u stunned when u get the answer is how much did it cost to erect that nigerian lion," @kevinskyO notes.
