Revealed: Uhuru's 14 Ambassador Nominees are All Millionaires, Worth a Combined Sh935 Million

14 Kenyans who were recently nominated by President Kenyatta for different diplomatic positions have a net worth of at least Sh30 million each.

The 14 ambassador and high commissioner nominees have a combined wealth of Sh935 million, according to documents submitted to the National Assembly Defense and Foreign Relations Committee, which vetted them last week.

The richest among them is Major-General Samuel Nandwa, who was nominated as Kenya’s Ambassador to South Sudan. He has a net worth of Sh105 million.

Benson Ogutu, who was picked for the position of Kenya’s Ambassador to Russia is the second richest with a net worth of Sh101 million followed by Major-General Ngewa Mukala (Sudan) whose wealth totals Sh100 million.

Ambassador nominee to Zimbabwe Stella Munyi declared her net worth as Sh91.7 million while Immaculate Wambua (Ottawa, Canada) and Daniel Wambura (Burundi) put their net worth at Sh76 million each.

Ambassador Jean Kamau, who was named Kenya’s Permanent Representative to Un-Habitat in Nairobi, put his net worth at Sh60 million. 

Ambassador Martin Kimani, who has been nominated as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, said he is worth Sh58 million. 

Ambassador nominee to Thailand Lindsay Kiptiness, who declared she is worth Sh30 million, has the least net worth followed by Tabu Irina (Sh34.14 million). Irina is the Ambassador-designate to Tokyo Japan.  

Others are John Tipis (Sh35 million), Catherine Mwangi (Sh50 million), and Jushua Gatimu (Sh50 million). Tipis, Mwangi, and Gatimu were named Ambassador nominees to South Africa, Iran, and Australia. 

The Constitution requires those seeking top public offices to declare their wealth as a tool in the fight against corruption.
