Switzerland, a nation renowned for its exceptional living standards and robust economy, faces a significant shortage of qualified workers across diverse sectors.
This reality, outlined in the 2023 EURES Report, presents a unique opportunity for foreign professionals seeking work visas. The report identifies 41 professions in high demand, with particularly critical gaps in healthcare, engineering, information technology (IT), education, and the legal field. For qualified individuals in these areas, securing a work visa in Switzerland becomes significantly more achievable due to the pressing need for their expertise. The in-demand professions encompass a broad spectrum of industries. The healthcare sector requires nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and midwives. Engineers of various specializations, including environmental, civil, mining, and metallurgical, are also highly sought-after.
The IT field welcomes computer network professionals, system administrators, database and application developers, and software developers. Educational institutions require special needs teachers and university-level educators, while the justice system seeks judges and lawyers to bolster its ranks. This labour shortage presents a compelling opportunity for non-Swiss individuals seeking employment in Switzerland. A Swiss work visa grants the holder the right to reside and work within the country. Candidates in the aforementioned high-demand fields have a clear advantage in securing employment due to the critical need for their skills.
The primary requirement for obtaining a Swiss work visa is to secure a job offer from a Swiss employer. This employer then takes the lead by initiating the work permit application process on the candidate's behalf. Once the work permit is granted, the applicant can proceed with their visa application at the Swiss consulate or embassy located in their home country. The Swiss government actively seeks to attract skilled professionals to address these labour shortages. This policy translates into a more streamlined process for obtaining the necessary permits and visas for individuals with expertise in high-demand occupations. The current system of work permit quotas for non-EU/EFTA nationals remains in effect through 2024.
Switzerland seeks to tap into a global pool of exceptional talent by extending its reach beyond the borders of the European Union and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) zones. This approach allows the nation to address its labour needs while simultaneously benefiting from the diverse skills and experience offered by international professionals. For the most current and comprehensive information on the Swiss work visa process, it is highly recommended to consult the official website of the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM). This government agency serves as the authoritative source for all details and updates pertaining to work permit applications and related requirements within Switzerland.

Lovely picture quite serene however new immigrants will most probably be living in the city concrete jungle and crumped housing. It does make a good fake first impression
Genesis 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it..."Yes God was telling Adam and Even to have unlimited sex,and populate the earth. And Iam sure they gladly did it willingly.Proof world population is 8 billion persons...
Fast forward to today, and you find countries like Japan, Germany,Russia, and Taiwan, to mention afew, paying their citizens to copulate, and populate.Wow, who would have thought of that? Not Adam.-These countries are not having enough babies to replace the dying folks.Thank God we dont have that problem in Kenya, and Africa at large. However, we may have to send our labor force to countries that are having serious population collapse.
Somehow, somewhere, somebody is collecting data, and begging us to make sense out of this data. For example this somebody has said that by 2030 China will have more retirees than workers, and by 2050,which is in our life time,China's current population of1.3 billion humans will dwindle down to 650 million persons.Yes, how many jobs will be available for Kenyans there...?
Right now South Korea has the lowest birth rate in the world. They are facing population collapse. Schools that used to have 5o students ,a few years ago now can hardly have 10.The prognosis is that there will be many cities without people.Hard to fathom yes.
Well with the advancement of technology and cultural shifts these changes were inevitable.Change in the only constant. So we await more changes as years go by.
Well dear Kenyans, especially the learned lot, what should we take away from this global phenomenon of population decline.Should we constantly remind ourselves to not let our guard down, and that we should take bedroom matters very seriously? And yes It could happen. Not now but in the distant future,I could foresee foreign governments with first class flights at JKIA begging Kenyans to come ride for free...into paradise.
