Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba on Verge of Losing Re-Election

Current preliminary results indicate that Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba will be among MPs in the 11th parliament who will be sent packing.

The Labour Party Leader, and supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election has been floored by Orange Democratic Movement's Raphael Wanjala, a former area MP.

Wanjala has taken an early lead with 12,339 votes (44,51%) against Namwamba's 10,550 votes (38,06%). Andrew Nakitari at 2,942 votes (10,61%) is third.

Known as 'Generali', Namwamba ditched Raila-led ODM party, where he was the secretary general and joined Julia Ojiambo's Labor Party as its leader, with optimism that he would defy the ODM wave in Busia to retain his seat.

Ababu has widely campaigned for Jubilee and President Uhuru in the constituency and larger Western Kenya region and was hoping to ride on multi-billion Sigiri Bridge constructed by the Jubilee government to sail back to parliament, but it appears the opposition wave in the region has swept him.
