NASA Dismisses Jubilee's Push for Vote Recount, Wants IEBC Servers Opened

National Super Alliance (NASA) has rubbished Jubilee's push for a recount of votes, saying that ballot boxes are in the custody of police who "cannot be trusted".

The opposition alliance instead asked Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and Jubilee to open servers so Kenyans know who won the August 8th elections.

"IEBC was part of the problem since the KIEMS and any other information collected was sent to servers in France but never came back to Kenya. This gave room for a few officials to manipulate and announce fake results," Raila's running mate Kalonzo Musyoka said.

Addressing worshipers when he attended a church service at PAG Kangemi, Nairobi, Kalonzo said Supreme Court's ruling that declared Uhuru's August 8 election win null, void and invalid was final and "Jubilee leaders should stop threatening Kenyans with legal battles which have no basis".

"We are well-prepared for the struggle to defend this country, ensure free fair and credible elections and empower public institutions to deliver their mandate,".

"The moment we compromise the Judiciary, we embrace the jungle law and everyone, including those in power, is not safe."

NASA principal and Bungoma senator Moses Wetang'ula termed Jubilee's push for vote recount futile.

"I want to offer free legal advice to Jubilee...that the decision of the Supreme Court is final and its not appealable," said Wetang'ula.

"Lawyers lying to Uhuru and Jubilee that they can re-launch another petition in the apex court and open the ballot boxes are simply cheating themselves." He added.

"And if you (Jubilee and Uhuru) can be cheated that far, then your ability must be questionable," Wetang'ula said.

Wetangula cautioned Jubilee against using the tyranny of numbers in Parliament to change election laws to their advantage.

"If you ever thought you could abuse your questionable and illegitimate numerical strength in Parliament, to convolute the law so that you stay in power for long and protect what you have stolen, my colleagues, you are on the wrong footing," the senator said.

"And if Jubilee MPs dare to change the laws so we have a banana republic, they will meet 40 million Kenyans on the streets," he said.

"We are prepared for the struggle and the teargas."

NASA maintained it will not take part in the repeat elections if their "irreducible minimum reforms" are not implemented by IEBC.

"They should read and understand the constitution so when we say Kenya failed to have an election, they understand what we mean. We are not boycotting," Kalonzo said.

"We will not go to the streets or fight but the secret is in our laws."
