Motorcycle Outrider Dies While Escorting Deputy President William Ruto's Motorcade

A police outrider escorting Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday passed away after losing control of his motorbike.
The officer was riding ahead of the Deputy President's convoy along Wangari Maathai Rd on Saturday morning when the accident happened.
Ruto's motorcade was headed to Githunguri, Kiambu County, where he attended a burial ceremony of mother to Mount Kenya University (MKU) chairman Simon Gicharu.
Security details in motorbikes usually escort the President and Deputy President when on official duties around the country. The escort team is drawn from the elite presidential escort.
"The accident happened as we were snaking our way to Kiambu for the burial," one of DP's aides told the Star on condition on anonymity.
Confirming his death in a tweet, DP Ruto described him as a hardworking and dedicated officer.
"Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Constable Casmel Ndege who has passed on in the line of duty. He was a gallant, hardworking and dedicated professional. We celebrate him for his selfless service to this country. May his Soul Rest In Peace."
