Jubilee Senator Earns Praise from Kenyans after Securing Release of MP Babu Owino

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has received praise from Kenyans on social media for managing to negotiate the release of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who was held at the Parklands police cells for two nights.
The youthful MP was arrested outside Parliament premises on Friday by Flying Squad officers for reportedly assaulting a parking attendant in the Westlands area on January 11th.
Despite being elected on a Jubilee ticket, Sakaja harshly criticized the police for ‘targeting’ Babu. He camped at the police station for several hours on Sunday to secure his release.
Speaking to the media after negotiating Babu's release, Sakaja said: “Whoever is trying to use the criminal justice system to score whichever goals, should stop. And if you are in the police force and you think by doing this you are helping Jubilee, you are not."
“Babu pole sana together with your bodyguard. As soon as I got the information from one of your people I was able to dash over here,” he told Owino.
Sakaja secured his release after similar attempts on Saturday by Nasa leaders Raila Odinga, Moses Wetang'ula, MPs allied to opposition and University of Nairobi students bore no fruits.
Its this action that has made Sakaja win praise from a section of Kenyans in the internet. Here are some of the reactions.
@WinnieKabintie says: "@SakajaJohnson in a country where majority of politicians are only used as bad examples yourLEADERSHIP is outstanding.ProudOfYou."

Douglas Arege tweeted: " @sakajajohnson an admirable leader and role model. You should lead a reawakening moment for Kenya. Your political sobriety & maturity inspires a new political hope in Kenya."
Babu was on Monday charged with three counts of assault, use of abusive language and causing disturbance, but was freed on Sh20,000 personal bond after denying the charges.

When will this thug aka Babu Owino learn to obey simple rules. Paying a parking fee is so simple and takes less than a minute. He enjoy drama and fighting all the time.

@Guest1, you do not correct a wrong with another wrong. Thug Babu Owino should be condemned at the highest level. If you commit a crime you do not go to the judge with a historical list of all the people who have commuted crime before you. That is exactly what you are doing

Babu is not repentant of his actions and continues to deny he was the one on the footage. He even undermines Sakaja's deed by stating that Sakaja came to his aid as a comrade tied together by an oath taken when they were both in university, i.e a comrade is always right, no matter what. In summary, Sakaja was not honorable in his actions but moved by his affiliation with this thug. We are making this virus (Babu) a super bug every time he is arrested and released without consequence as he comes back super charged with thuggery intent! He is akin to resistant antibiotics borne out of misuse of treatments, in this case, mistreatment of the justice system has inflated his ego beyond redemption. All this was played out on Jeff and Jalas hot....... I am quite disappointed at Jeff and his colleague as they continue to give this thug a platform to thump his chest for his wrong doings. They also gave him a platform to deny he called the president mtoto wa umbwa, claiming presidents are all over organisations, etc...... and he has the audacity to boast he has ambition to be a Kenyan president in future. Really?

I dont understand why Sakaja is being praised.Obviously being Babu Owino has its privileges. If the fellow was being held in Jail in accordance to the law, then Sakaja breached the law,and if Babu was being held against the law, then the corps should be punished.Iwould love to think that we are all equal under the law... I guess not.I guess being Joe-six-pac has not privileges.
