Donald Trump Administration Reacts to Raila's Swearing-in

The United States has criticized the swearing- in of National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga, terming it unconstitutional.

In a statement issued by State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert, the Donald Trump's administration noted that President Kenyatta was validly elected in the repeat presidential election held on October 26th,2017.

The US said it rejects “actions that undermine Kenya’s Constitution and the rule of law.”

The US also hailed police for exercising restraint during the ‘oathing’ of the opposition leader held on Tuesday at Uhuru Park grounds in Nairobi and called on Kenyans to employ legal means to resolve election-related disputes.

“Grievances must be resolved through appropriate legal mechanisms,” the statement added.

At the same time, the US government raised concern over the switching off television stations by the state for live coverage of the opposition event.

“We are deeply concerned by the Government’s action to shutdown, intimidate and restrict the media. Freedom of expression, including for members of the media, is essential to democracy and is enshrined in Kenya’s Constitution,” said Heather.

The US department further stressed on the need to have national dialogue and urged President Uhuru's administration to foster cohesion by addressing the longstanding issues.

“It is only Kenyans who can find a way to resolve their differences and chart the destiny of the great country,” said the state department spokesperson.

*It is on;y Kenyans who can find a way to resolve their differences and chart.....* Period! Any ?longstanding issues? Ekuru can play opposition.

NB: Asking Uhuru to waste taxpayers money pretending to have a referendum on ELECTORAL INJUSTICE with a lunatic who wants TO BE DECLARED THE WINNER in an election he DOES NOT WANT HIS NAME ON THE BALLOT is asking our President to play magician. Uhuru is not a magician, he does not practice black magic; Raila does.
