Nigeria’s CcHUB Acquires Kenya’s iHub for Undisclosed Fee

Nigeria’s Co-creation Hub (CcHUB) on Thursday announced the acquisition of Kenya’s iHub for an undisclosed fee.

As a result of this acquisition, iHub’s team will become part of CcHUB’s wider central support and strategy network while retaining its name and top management structure. CcHUB’s co-founder, Bosun Tijani, will serve as the CEO across both locations.

On Thursday, Tijani described iHub as a world-class community of developers, entrepreneurs, and business people.

“We are long-time admirers and collaborators of iHub—a world-class community of developers, entrepreneurs and business people who have been instrumental in growing Kenya’s extraordinary technology ecosystem,” Tijani said.

“We continue to be bullish in our combined efforts in creating hundreds of thousands of more opportunities for businesses across Africa,” he added.

Launched in 2010, iHub is home to internationally-recognized companies including BRCK, Ushahidi, and startups likes Eneza Education, Taimba and Optimetriks.

CcHUB will now make key hires in innovation consulting, people management, program management, and community support, as it looks to expand its pan-African network to accelerate the growth of technology innovation and entrepreneurship in the continent.

This is the first time an African technology hub is acquiring another in the continent. The acquisition comes seven months after CcHUB expanded into Rwanda, where it launched Design Lab — a creative space in Africa focusing exclusively on product design and technology innovation.

With Nigerians now controlling Kenya's tech industry gloomy days are ahead of Kenya in days to come. Kenya will be turned into scam oasis for all Nigerian scammers. No longer will holders of Kenya's ID numbers, PIN Numbers, Huduma Numbers, or even Mpesa account holders will be safe because Nigerians will turn Kenya's iHub into data collection center for Nigerian multinational criminals. Most of the data stolen will be used in Kenya by Nigerians in conjunction with Kenyan corrupt officials. This means scammers from Nigeria will be able to steal Kenyan national identities to transfer and sell land without owners knowing until when it is too late. Tech industry in any country is a national security concern and Nigerians should not have been allowed to acquire iHub as matter of national security concern. Kenya should learn from US which has banned Huawei from installing 5G network in US for the same concern. Kenya does not seem to learn from the past mistakes of trusting Nigerians. All Nigerians should leave Kenya and never to go back

You are just a simple-minded, self-hating racist. Where was your vitriol when iHub was acquired by Americans 2 years ago?. It's ok for white people to setup tech businesses and acquire Kenyan businesses but if it is someone from another African country you freak out. Your hatred of Nigerians is legendary here and without logic or reason. Do your research on CcHub before concluding malice in the acquisition. This is definitely good for African integration and for the Kenyan tech ecosystem

This is yet another avenue criminal Nigerians have found to penetrate into Kenya's economic system. Stinging criminal minded Nigerians should never, I repeat, should never be allowed to do business in Kenya. Nigerians should stay in Nigeria and mind their business there. Nigerians are bad people and all what they do is to commit crimes
