Tecra Muigai’s Boyfriend Omar Lali Freed from Custody

Tecra Muigai’s Boyfriend Omar Lali Freed from Custody

Omari Lali, the boyfriend of the late Keroche Breweries Director Tecra Muigai has been freed from police custody.

Lali, who was detained at Lamu Police Station for 21 days to allow completion of investigations into Tecra’s death, was released on Wednesday, May 27th, after a Lamu court on Tuesday rejected an application by the prosecution to hold him for seven more days.

In a ruling, Lamu Principal Magistrate Allan Temba said there were no sufficient reasons to continue holding the suspect.

Tecra passed away while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital on May 2nd, a few days after she reportedly fell down the stairs at a holiday home in Lamu, where she was living with Lali, 51.

An autopsy showed Tecra succumbed to injuries she suffered on the left side of her head. Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor in a report said the injuries were consistent with a fall down the stairs.

Lali, who is being treated as a suspect in her death, was arrested by homicide detectives after he allegedly gave conflicting accounts on the circumstances leading to his girlfriend’s death.

Lali has maintained innocence, saying he loved Tecra and did not have any reason to murder her. In an interview with The Standard, Lali stressed that her fall was purely an accident.

"She wanted us to settle down. I helped her look for a house in Naivasha. But she is gone. Why would I kill her? Why won't people accept God's will? This girl was special. I will never find anyone like her again," said Lali.

Tecra, who was the daughter of Keroche Breweries billionaire owners Joseph Karanja (Chairman) and his wife Tabitha Karanja (CEO), was buried at her family’s home in Naivasha, Nakuru County on Saturday, May 16th.

The ceremony was attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga, Senators James Orengo, and Moses Wetangula, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui and Nark-Kenya leader Martha Karua.

Lali had requested to be allowed to attend the funeral but the family did not grant him his wish.

At least she was kind enough to provide some financial support to a poor man who never had money all his long life! I think he was just following her instructions just to make her happy!

Anyway, love does not cost a thing my fren! She went into it whole heartedly; and possibly without any regrets.

I want to marry her sister Anarlisa with conditions that no drinking ALcohol, no smoking ganja, we will go to church every Sunday, and we will give 10% of her earning to the Lord every month!! I will help her be a good steward of the plenty that God has freely given her.

I just want to have a lot of money so I can stop being a hustler!!

@chokora - I like everything you have said should Anarlisa kindly give you her beautiful hand in marriage! But, I will go I few conditions further because I’m also a “hustler” and I’m interested in her.

For the first two years of being together, we will live in a two roomed house. We will use an outdoors toilet. We will buy a used VW Bettle to get around, we will cook everything in our small house, we will hand wash all our dirty linen, and we will make sure to have two beautiful children in the first two years.

I think she will like all my kind conditions better!
