UDA's Kimani Ngunjiri Loses Bahati MP Seat to Newcomer Irene Njoki of Jubilee Party

Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, has lost his seat to Jubilee Party’s 'Mrembo' Irene Njoki.

Njoki, a novice in politics, was declared the winner of the Bahati parliamentary seat in Nakuru County after garnering 34,308 votes ahead of UDA’s Ngunjiri, who had 26,809. She becomes the first female MP in the constituency.

“As I humbly accept the role given unto to me by the residents of Bahati Sub-County, I promise to work with my competitors for the betterment of the area,” Njoki said in her acceptance speech on Thursday.

Others in the race included Quindos Karanja (2,130 votes) Paul Mwaura (271 votes), Gathonjia James (254 votes), Chege Mwangi (198 votes) and Richard Kiboi (63 votes).

In the same county, Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has retained her seat on a UDA ticket after gaining 44,882 votes, followed by John Kihagi (24,891 votes), Solomon Ndegwa (18,321 votes), Anthony Rebo (8,295 votes), Raymond Muiruri (824 votes), John Muthiora (429 votes), Anne Wanjiru (267 votes), Francis Ireri (258 votes) and James Kinyua (209 votes).
