NASA Dismisses Claims of Mudavadi Quitting

National Super Alliance has rubbished claims that Amani National Coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi had quit the coalition.

A letter shared widely on social media for the better part of Wednesday morning showed that Mudavadi had written to Raila Odinga and other principals informing them of his resignation from Nasa.

However, in a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon, Bungoma senator Moses Wetang'ula dismissed the letter, saying that National Super Alliance was intact.

"NASA is intact and it is moving to ensure we take our rightful positions ahead of the election which needs to be devoid of irregularities."

He termed the social media claims as baseless propaganda by their political rivals.

"NASA does not deal in fake news...there are some people peddling lies on social media." He said.

In a Tweet, Musalia Mudavadi urged supporters to ignore the fake letter, saying that it showed “signs of a desperate party”.

“Treat this with the contempt it deserves,” Mudavadi said in a Twitter post.

The rumor came in the wake of political defections in the country's two main coalitions ahead of October 17th repeat presidential election. Former governors Isaac Ruto (Bomet) and Peter Munya (Meru) ditched Nasa for Jubilee and declared support for President Uhuru reelection bid.

My friends, this is smoke; and where there is smoke, there is fire. Why can’t Mudavadi tell the nation with conviction that he is still in NASA. NASA has crumbled and it is time to jump ship.

I wouldn't be surprised. Has has the most hurdles to jump before getting what he was promised. Against all odds, elections must be won on Oct 17, after which constitution will need amendment to create the position. All this while hoping against hope that the gentlemen's MOU will be honored. Time will tell, but I guess it is a lot to expect of any ambitious man like MDVD
