No One Will Be Spared, President Uhuru Tells Those Planning to Disrupt Election

President Uhuru Kenyatta says that the government will not spare anyone planning to disrupt next week's repeat presidential election.

Speaking during the 8th Mashujaa Day Celebrations at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, the Head of State assured that the government will protect those who wish to take part in next Thursday's election.

“For those who thrive in chaos and relish anarchy, your days are numbered. The law will take its course and sanction you accordingly,” he warned.

“Those who wish to vote must be allowed to vote and those who wish not to vote must be allowed not to vote.”

“My administration will not allow a repeat of the painful past where lives and properties were lost. We vowed never to repeat the regrettable events that almost sunk us. We must, therefore, wake up and say “NO” to any misleading leader out to plunge Kenya into chaos,” said Kenyatta. “The security apparatus has been enhanced and appropriately deployed to maintain law and order.”

Uhuru said the government will take action on anyone breaking the law, regardless of their social status. “The law will apply equally to all regardless of social class, and no one will be spared,” he said.

He urged Kenyans to uphold peace, the same way they did in the cancelled August 8th poll. “The coming election demand that we remain calm and peaceful. We must desist from divisive acts, which our enemies can use to harm us," said Kenyatta.

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga held a parallel event in Bondo to mourn supporters killed by police during anti-IEBC demonstrations.

Mashujaa Day is marked on October 20th every year to honor those who contributed towards the struggle for Kenya’s independence and those who continue to perform acts of heroism in the country.

Good do not let 2007/08 repeat itself in your watch. Let those who will cause trouble regret the day they were born.

Thank you for saying what should have been said months ago. It is time to stop this non stop bullshit and chaos led by Raila. Thank you president Uhuru. You have been very patient with all these inciting and daily insults of the republic. There is only one government and it is about time to go after any one whose motive is to incite the masses. What a cunning man this Raila guy has turned into.

I am for the opinion that we postpone next weeks election. I am not playing partisan/unilateral politics but Kenya is greater than all of us. Elections alone wouldn't solve the current acute political crisis and heightened ethnic tension. We need to save and reclaim coexistence, healing and peace within our nation. Otherwise, every rationale person predicts that there will be mayhem: loss of lives including innocent lives. There will be collateral damage that will spill over, just remember 2007 PEV.

Uhuru, don't turn our nation into a police state! Please talk to Mwai Kibaki not Toroitich how to govern educated Kenyans. In addition, please talk to Kenneth Matiba and learn from him the sacrifices that he made so that you could be elected the president of Kenya. If everybody in Kenya were a coward and always worshiped Toroitich the way you and Ruto did, Kenya would be like Zimbabwe. A failed state.

Since you believe in "praying," please pray for peace on the election day and leave our military alone. The military should be in Somalia teaching our Somali brothers and sisters how to behave like human beings. May be you should appoint Duale to be the Kenyan ambassador of the people of Somalia.

Imara. Good point. Some of Us are so much Focused on Raila (don't get me wrong) the Luo we Love to Hate and Have Forgotten Our Own (Toka Nitoke) brothers and Sisters who Fought for What Raila is Still Fighting for On Behalf of the Ailing Comrades like Kenneth Matiba, etc and those who already passed on. That's why Compensating Kenneth Matiba (Millions or Billions of Shillings) will NEVER be an Enough Price (whatsoever) for the Sacrificial Life he Gave for Kenya's 2nd Independence (from KANU and NYAYO Chains and Dictatorship).
