Seven Suspected Gangsters Shot Dead in Nairobi

Seven suspected gangsters were on Friday morning shot dead by police officers in Nairobi's Kitusuru estate.

Confirming the incident, Flying Squad head Musa Yego said the criminals were gunned down by officers from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit.

“They were targeting a private residence in Kitisuru where there is gold and some cash,” Yego said.

Yego said they recovered four guns including a Berreta pistol and three homemade guns that the criminals were to use to rob a private residence in the area. Police said the seven targeted the posh residence because they thought the owner had money and gold.

Nairobi County Commander Joseph Ole Tito, said security officers were tipped off and thwarted the plan. The suspects had entered the targeted home before they were floored.

There has been a rise in crime in Nairobi in recent weeks, with gangsters targeting houses in posh estates such as Karen, Hurlingham, Runda among others.

Recently a gang of seven attacked and tried to rob the owner of a house and his guests in Karen. One of the attackers was gunned down during the incident.

Kenya's police/crime investigators have a long way of learning how to securely handle the crimes' sites and how to handle evidence. Why would they put the seized weapons, ammunitions etc on a bare contaminated floor/road? There is a protocol on how to handle them!
