Retired President Mwai Kibaki to Build Multi-Billion Shilling Mini-City Near Menengai Crater

Retired President Mwai Kibaki is planning to build a multi-billion shilling mini-city comprising of a five-star hotel near Menengai Crater in Nakuru.

The investment's promoters say the decision to set up the luxurious hotel is informed by increased global interest in the crater that last experienced volcanic activity about 8,000 years ago.

Business Daily reports that the facility will sit on a 692-acre parcel of land next to the crater where the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) is developing a 100-megawatt geothermal field. The project is being undertaken by Kibaki family’s company, Gingalili (1968) Ltd.

National Environment Management Authority (Nema) has invited members of the public to file submissions on the project within the next 30 days.

“Nema invites members of the public to submit oral and written submissions within 30 days to assist the authority in the decision-making process for this project,” Nema says in a notice.

The mini-city will also have educational institutions, low, medium and high income rental houses as well as a commercial center on both sides of the Nyahururu-Nakuru highway. The site is located 15 kilometers from Nakuru Central Business District.

That is a better way of giving back to the communities. If the other billionaires do something similar, at least some Kenyan peasant will earn a living through the underpaid unskilled labor. Hungry slaves make few bricks and dead slaves make no bricks.

People should comment with some info. Gingalili land is one of Kibaki's oldest property between maili saba and ahero. It's not a grabbed land and is not part of Menengai crater escarpment. You all know who are the real thieves
