President Uhuru Gifts Uganda Land in Naivasha to Build Dry Port

President Kenyatta says Kenya will give Uganda land in Naivasha to build a dry port for its cargo.

Kenyatta says the port will ease the cost of ferrying goods between the two countries.

Speaking when he hosted Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni for a dinner at State House, Mombasa on Wednesday night, Kenyatta says the move is in line with the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) to Kampala.

“I have confirmed to President Museveni that with that development in Naivasha and then moving the SGR to Malaba, goods will be able to move from Mombasa to Malaba in just two days,” President Kenyatta says.

Kenyatta also says the move is part of Kenya's long-term plan to move all cargo from the road to the SGR.

“But more importantly, it (SGR) will reduce the cost of transport for Ugandan investors and Uganda itself. It will improve the efficiency of Mombasa Port to the benefit of our people,” adds Kenyatta.

Kenyatta has also revealed that the transportation of petroleum products to Uganda via Lake Victoria will begin once the ongoing construction of the Kisumu petroleum jetty is complete.

“For the first time since colonial days, we are utilizing Lake Victoria for transportation thereby reducing the cost of moving fuel (petroleum) to Uganda and increasing the potential for trade between the two countries."

President Museveni is in Kenya for a two-day State visit aimed at strengthening trade ties between the two nations.

He is lying. That land belongs to him.

Whichever way, Uhuru kenyatta’s children will pay for SGR and Eurobond.

The Kenyatta family really hates the people of the Coast. Always selling their land and destroying their livelihood.

The Coast region is on the secession train so , shauri zao.

I'm sorry but a plot of land does not change the economics of using SGR. The SGR is an economic loss for transporters and wholesale importers. The bottomless pit of stupid ideas never disappoints. Pombe tu!

Oh, gifting or leasing , as in kumpatia tuu vivyo hivyo, when some of us are trying to get a piece of shamba that corridor and the prices are exorbitant. Kenyatta please stop drinking Fombe and think before you act

He is just playing politics.

He owns the land.

Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto were trapped like a rat by the Chinese with loss making-SGR .

Chinese has trapped Kenyan politicians like rats🐀 .

Eurobond is another trap. Everyone was busy trapping kenyan rats 🐀 .

When they start feeding the rats poison, I will just be laughing. Rats always destroy things. They never build.Eventually, the rats will be killed.

Meanwhile, Secession train 🚊 on the move, get your ticket 🎫 now....

Secession full steam ahead😎😎😎

JAMAMA.What is your alternative to SGR? You always criticize things without giving solutions to problems because it is like you are empty headed

Solution to what.
Uhuru kenyatta was conned by the Chinese a long time ago.
He even thinks he is smart by stealing Euro-bond.Another ponzi scam that he is trapped in.
This Jubilee government got conned by international scam artists.

We the people of people’s Republic of Kenya are moving swiftly towards secession.

Why do you we just become one new country-call it Ugakenstan. That way it wont matter where migingo lies. And M7 being one of the oldest rulers will have to retire.
But most importantly to avoid the like of Idi Amin saying,"uganda extends till Naivasha".
My two cents...keep change.

@Wabirithi, thanks for that question about the SGR. And talking about empty headedness, I have also always wondered what those who are opposed to the SGR would rather have as an alternative.

How do you gift land to a foreign country when your own citizens are landless. We are yet to resettle the squatters in so called water catchment zones in the riftvalley, victims of the ethnic clashes are still landless. This guy is becoming Moi who supposedly gifted the corrupt dubai sheikh prime land in upperhill when residents of Kibera still use pit latrines.Corruption starts at the top ati gift why not sell it for a profit how will we repay the chinese back if we keep giving away what we should be charging for

Kenya (not verified)     Thu, 03/28/2019 @ 02:37pm

Uhuru gave his friend M7 a personal gift of land because he has too much. Kamau using whatever means he had on his hand got over 500K acres of land. I do not think under the constitution the president has power to give another country land of Kenya. Land belong to the Republic of Kenya not the president.

DIANA.For how long will you keep on singing about secession? The idea of People's Republic of Kenya is long dead and buried and your BABA is quietly eating his ill gotten wealth alone.

When business opportunity strikes, there are losers & those who gain! transit lorry operators wataumia but other jobs will also be created. So the best thing to do is adapt fast! Nothing stays the same forever you know! Change is inevitable. Diana can start a small omena business for example, around the dry port & guarantee customers will overwhelm her! she can name her business "SECESSION OMENA"
