Airbus A318-112: Uhuru Hires Private Luxurious Jet for Japan, Russia Trips
Details of the luxury private jet that President Kenyatta and his entourage are flying during his latest foreign tour have emerged.
flightradar24.com, an online aircraft tracking website shows the Airbus A318-112 (cj) elite A6-CAS hired from Dubai-based Constellation Aviation Services (CAS) landed in Mombasa from Jaipur, India on Sunday at 5:33 pm, Citizen Digital reported.
Kenyatta and his team jetted out of the country aboard the aircraft immediately after the end of Mashujaa Day luncheon hosted at State House Mombasa on Sunday.
The luncheon was held hours after Kenyatta presided over Mashujaa Day celebrations at the refurbished Mama Ngina Waterfront in the coastal city.
The private jet left Mombasa at about 8.24 pm and landed at Almaty International Airport, Kazakhstan for refueling, according to Citizen Digital.
It then resumed its journey to Tokyo, Japan where Kenyatta was scheduled to attend the Enthronement of Emperor Naruhito.
Naruhito formally proclaimed his ascension to the throne in an elaborate ceremony that included a series of traditional rituals inside the imperial palace in Tokyo.
59-year-old Emperor officially began his reign in May this year after the abdication of his father, the then-Emperor Akihito.
From Tokyo, the private jet which according to CAS carries 19 passengers and is able to do a 9-hour nonstop journey, flew back to Almaty once again.
It then departed for Sochi, Russia where Kenyatta is currently attending the first Russia-Africa Summit that has brought together about 50 African Heads of States.
The Airbus A318-112(cj) elite offers three spacious cabins with sliding partition doors for privacy in addition to VIP lounge, private office, luxurious VIP lavatory and high-speed internet, according to CAS.
Kenyatta, who is accompanied by among others First Lady Margret and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma, is expected back in the country on Saturday on the same jet.

Iam beginning to believe that something happens to the brain of our african leaders when they get to power.They stop thinking like the masses/common man,and because of that,their priorities are not the same as those of the common man.For example,would it not be logical for Uhuru to use the most economical means of traveling,and save tax payers money.I would not have any problem if he footed the whole bill himself,which he could. HOw hypocritical of him when he has been fighting to curtail travel expenses of his cabinet.Now he has set a precedent.Presidents after him will now try to out do each other.

We have a presidential jet. All we needed is fuel it and may be other small expenses. Pilots and flight engineers are on monthly payroll whether working or not. Was this a cheaper option or where is our jet?

It is a shame. Sort of back door corruption. With the mega 6 trillion debt, KRA chasing even Wanjiku to squeeze out something from her cabbages, sukumawiki, spinach, nyanya etc so that they pay the Chinese, now this. What eco-social benefit will the dethronment of this Japanese emperor have on the sorry state of affairs in Kenya. Just hold your breath before you shocking find out that Raila, Kalonzo, Joho, Mtavati are on board. Its just spoilt brut tasting free luxury at the expense of the deteriorating economic state of his subjects. Uhuru doesn't care a hoot. He cooned his voters, betrayed his supporters, embraced Raila, dumped Ruto, and now defecating on all the campaign promises that put him back in power.
