A plus-sized Ghanaian woman was this week blocked from boarding a Dubai-bound Emirates Airlines flight due to her size.

The woman identified as Precious Mensah, alias PM, was the winner of Ghana’s Atinka TV’s plus size women reality show, ‘Di Asa.

Her trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was part of the prize package for winners of the competition held in September.

Mensah was set to make the sponsored trip alongside the two runner-ups, Maafia and Gaza, according to reports in the West Africa nation.

She was allegedly stopped from boarding the plane because she reportedly could not fit on a single seat in the Emirates Airlines' plane.

In an interview with Atinka TV ahead of the trip to Dubai, an excited Ms. Mensah said: “I’ve heard of the tallest building and an exceptional fountain. I want to see and learn about them. I also want to go and study the culture of Dubai and a host of others.”

After the airline rejected her at an airport in Accra, a disappointed PM had no other option than to return home.

The grand finale of ‘Di Asa Season 3 was held on September 28th, 2019, where PM won the hearts of many after a grueling four rounds of different genres of dances.

She was the biggest plus-sized woman among all the 47 contestants that were hosted into the ‘DI ASA house for three months. She went home with a brand new Hyundai Elantra.

The award was presented to her by the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cynthia Morrison and the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi.

In addition to receiving a cash prize of GHC2,500, PM received $500 from the two ministers for shopping when she travels to Dubai.

Too fat, too thin, too loud, too quiet - I was never going to fit the standards others created for me. Instead of complying, I protested.

I think the comments you guys are making is awful. She is very large but I hope Shiek Mohammad or Crown Prince Fazza hear about this and invites her to the country. Being over weight is a diesease and addiction like Alcholism or drug addiction she is addicted to food. I hope she will be able to go to Dubai. Stop talking about people so cruelly. This woman is human with feelings. A person who bleeds, crys, gets sad.

Why even have such competition in the first place. If you are over weight you have a problem. Human beings are not animals which live to eat.She is unhealthy and this thing of beauty is in the eyes of the beholder is total nonsense. There is enough information out there that obesity kills. Food is for sustenance not a drug.If you want to live a long and healthy life loose weight. People living 100 years and beyond are all tiny this is NOT a coincidence.Respect your body and in turn you will live a long life. The average life in Africa and most third world countries is shorter because of eating the wrong foods and generally overeating for the few affluents where being big is looked at as a sign of prosperity. When will we learn
