Former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe had $10m (about Sh1 billion) cash held in a local bank at the time of his death, according to reports.
This was reported by Zimbabwe’s State media The Herald, which quoted a legal letter from Mugabe’s daughter Bona Chikowore, who is supposedly seeking to register her father’s estate. Mugabe appears not to have left a will, according to the family’s lawyer.
A list of his estate published by The Herald also included some small plots of land and a handful of modest properties. During Mugabe’s reign as President, there were rumors about his wealth, including him owning a Scottish castle and a $1m property in Asia.
But the letter by his daughter Chikowore to the high court did not mention any of the two properties. Besides the cash in the bank, the letter listed four houses, 10 vehicles, a farm, and an orchard. Two houses in the upmarket suburbs of Harare are in the name of the governing Zanu-PF party, according to family lawyer Terrence Hussein.
Mugabe, who passed away in a Singaporean hospital on September 6th aged 95, was buried on September 28th in the courtyard of his home in Kutama, the rural village where he was born. His successor President Emmerson Mnangagwa revealed Mugabe had been battling cancer.
He died nearly two years after he was ousted from power in a bloodless military coup having ruled Zimbabwe for 37 years.

@konmen - our Kikuyu culture for its us from insulting our women and children! It is also an abomination to insult a lady who is a mother and grand mother to so many in Kenya.
You have constantly attacked mama Ngina to a point I tend to you a man carried you in his belly after he was impregnated by a female cow! Your lack of manners make me think that you are a spineless female coward of no noble name. Your shameless actions goes further to inform us why your tribe (kal jins) burned women and children inside Kiambaa church as Kalejin men shouted madowadowa to the feeble women and shot those who attempted to escape to safety with poisoned arrows.
No wonder many Kikuyus in the RV and throughout Kenya have difficulties thinking of a Ruto presidency. The history of 2007 makes them think of you as murderous hyenas who can’t be trusted with power - you easily get inebriated with power as you claim others owe you! Who owes you; my dirty foot!!??
You ought to be ashamed of yourself for constantly insulting a honorable lady who could be your own grand mother’s grandmother! Do you have women in the Kalejin community?? Do have a mother; a grandmother?? Find a fellow man to beat his ass if that will make you respect women; any woman for that matter! Get your baby nincompoop head out of your smelly ass!! What a freaking shame!!
Uhuru makes Mugabe look bad. they have stolen all land in kenya with his mama who was also involved in poaching. shame. more I find out about Mugabe better he looks. only kenyans kula yote punda hao.
