Uhuru Appoints Committee to Oversee Implementation of BBI Report

President Uhuru has appointed a committee whose task will be to oversee the implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report that was launched last November.

The 14-member team dubbed the “Steering Committee on the Implementation of the Building Bridges to a United Kenya Taskforce Report” will be required to conduct a validation of the BBI report through consultations with citizens, civil society, faith-based organizations, cultural leaders, the private sector, and experts.

“IT IS notified for the general information of the public that His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, President, and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, has appointed the Steering Committee on the Implementation of the Building Bridges to a United Kenya Taskforce Report,” reads a gazette notice dated January 10th, 2020.

After consultations, the committee is expected to make proposals that will pave the way for the implementation of the BBI report.

“The Terms of Reference of the Steering Committee shall be to: propose administrative, policy, statutory or constitutional changes that may be necessary for the implementation of the recommendations contained in the Task Force Report, taking into account any relevant contributions made during the validation period,” the Gazette notice added.

The Steering Committee is also expected to submit comprehensive advice to the Government by June 30th, 2020 or such date as the President may, by notice in the Gazette, recommend.

Members of the committee include Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji, Bishop Lawi Imathiu, Maison Leshomo, James Matundura, Rose Moseu, Agnes Kavindu Muthama, Prof. Saeed Mwaguni, and Bishop Peter Njenga.

Others are Archbishop Emeritus Zaccheaus Okoth, Prof. Adams Oloo, Senator Amos Wako,  Dr. Florence Omose, Prof. Morompi ole Ronkei and Retired Major John Seii.

The team’s joint secretaries are Amb. Martin Kimani and lawyer Paul Mwangi. The two will be responsible for all official communication on behalf of the Steering Committee.

“In the performance of its functions, the Steering Committee shall appoint its chairperson and vice-chairperson from among its members and regulate its own procedure within confines of the law and the Constitution,” the Gazette notice stated.

Teams - The most important thing Kenyans want is inclusivity, fairness, a level playing field in sharing the National “cake”, a new leadership that is corruption free and a leadership that is able to liberate Kenya from the expensive foreign debts.

A country overtaken by debts will eventually collapse from within, hence leaving its citizens quite vulnerable to external interference by the debtors.

Let the DP Ruto sober up and stop making unnecessary comments about the BBI as he grows impatient of its outcome.

He seems to lack discipline as the second in command; possibly this is all the reasons why Uhuru has blind sided Ruto in matters BBI and other important national issues. A leader can’t be all about himself as it is apparently an open book with Ruto. People read through that text very quickly.

I also would ask Ruto to stop confusing the masses by constantly using proxies/himself to attack Uhuru through Raila. Ruto, Kenyans do not need a PhD to understand your cheap shots on Uhuru through Agwambo. You have become like the little boy who always cried, “hyena” in absentia, and finally ended up devoured by the hyena in real life!

Ruto please stop telling Kenyans how much money is being wasted on BBI because you won’t have been involved yourself with the theft of Kshs 21 billion of unrealized dams projects if you cared about Kenya. Just imagine how many deserving kids hoping to join/or going to secondary schools would have benefited from that stolen lot.

Here is the deal - if Ruto have anything to say about the current state of the BBI affairs, he can go directly to Uhuru for man ol man discussion of the issues. Constant attacks on Raila makes Ruto look like a foolish man; a retard for that matter!

To the BBI teams - Kenyans simply want honesty - simple plain truth as you chart a way forward for a better Kenya for all! We are all anxiously watching!

BBI is 20B KSH going to waste. There is nothing BBI can solve that the law and current constitution cannot solve.
This jubilee government has been flouting the constitution and law from day one.

@guest#13 - at least the cost is not Kshs 21 billion for Arrow and Kimwerer dams that went into the pockets of less than ten individuals!; to buy some high profile Helicopters as show toys!
