Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja Arrested on Drinking Spree During Curfew Hours

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja was on Saturday morning freed from Kilimani Police Station, where he spent the night.

Senator Sakaja was arrested at around 1 am on Saturday for allegedly violating Covid-19 rules including the 9 pm to 4 am curfew.

He was found drinking at Ladies Lounge in Kilimani together with 10 other levelers, according to a police report.

Police said Sakaja defied orders to leave the drinking joint and instead “became violent raising his hands to be handcuffed.”

“He incited others not to get away hence was arrested together with three others who refused to give their names for disobeying curfew orders. In the course of his arrest, others escaped.”

“While in custody he was asked to be given free bond but refused to leave cells threatening to transfer all officers within 24 hours,” the report reads.

A video shared on social media showed a seemingly intoxicated Sakaja asking for his phone and threatening to have officers at the station transferred.

So, even the law makers can not follow the laws! Issuing threats by a sitting senator makes it even worse. He should resign and quit politics.
