US Media Exposes Kenyans Helping American University Students Cheat in Exams and Research Papers [VIDEO]

CBS TV has aired an investigative report exposing the multi-million-shilling academic writing industry in Kenya.

Dubbed 'Contract Cheating', the exposé reveals how American university students pay top dollar to Kenyan graduates to do academic assignments and projects on their behalf.

Some of the Kenyan professional academic writers interviewed by CBS reporter Debra Patta revealed how they make millions by completing essays and other assignments for US students.

The writers are usually given login details to various student portals of American learners, allowing them access to facilities such as campus libraries as well as complete tests for their clients.

One of the writers said he decided to venture into academic writing some years ago after graduating and failing to secure a job. He has since completed classwork for many students in the US, including those pursuing undergraduate and master’s degrees. He earns at least Sh200,000 per month from academic writing.

“You can’t steal and so you have to find something to do for yourself. It is not really something you would be proud of to tell people that you help others cheat,” he said.

He has perfected the art of academic writing such that some of his clients post exceptional results that raise suspicion.

“There is one that I did, and the student got 97 percent, and the teacher told the student that the performance did not look like his based on past results of the student. The student told me to lower my performance on the papers so that it looks fair and plausible that I did it,” the writer noted.

US students pay between 20 and 50 US dollars per page, with account holders taking about 75 percent of the pay. Their writers earn between Sh500 and Sh1200 per page, which is 275 words on average.

By the way, I hope this article does not give the impression that this cheating is exclusively "Kenyan". This phenomenon is not new. Iranians, Americans, Russians to name afews have been involved in this cheating for along time.
Most of buy papers that they feel are not necessary to their academic success. For example an engineering student might have someone write a history term paper for him.To him writing and doing research would be a waste of time.
I dont condone this cheating.Iam just pointing out that this is not new.And the academic world knows about it.They just havent figured away to stop it.
Hey it happens a lot in Kenya. How many have fake degrees?Didn't Kuria,I think say that 40% of civil servants were employed by presenting false certificates...Let's worry about that.To me that's has more damage to Kenyans than a Kenyan writing a term paper for an american.

This is all American business. This is legit business where US companies contract Kenyans to provide online tutoring. The US companies makes all the money, while the Kenyans get the peanuts. The author knows all the contracts are thru the US company, but that would not sell. It's juicy to make it look like the Kenyans are the beneficiaries. But the money, and cheating is with the US company. And the Kenyan tutors are paid thru pay pal. Who is getting the money?

HUSTLER'S NATION.
I'm not condoning this behavior, but think about all the graduates leaving Kenyans campuses every year without jobs.
Some of tge University students in USA are lazy busy working.
Some of these papers take months to complete.
I did comment on having half COOKED graduates in USA some times back.
THINK ABOUT HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE MISDIAGNOSED EVERY DAY IN USA??
JAZENI...

This is not a Kenyan issue. It is an American issue and it will be resolved soon as Kenyans go back to their roots which include languages , cultures and religion.

True the system exit even in the USA. I am a University student in my final year. I was searching on for some materials for my assignment. I opened a web page, immediately a text message said we help with assignments. I can then to it while I doing something else. Any way people won't trust me but I declined and I did it myself and got distinction. I know a friend who gets credit and distinction but she can't explain what she wrote in her essays. It happening in Australia, England and in America.
