@Mary, you may be correct that the two were not married.As much as it is not clear coming from the horses mouth, I think they were not officially married,they way the court system interprets marriage.
I read the full story in Daily Nation,and I have to give her some credit,and some discredits to Mutua:
* Mutual pursued her relentlessly despite being married.According to her,she rebuffed him because of that.Its only after divorce that she open upto him for further exploration...
She had even encouraged him to reconcile with his wife,but the smitten government official would not her of it.
In the marriage, he became very jealous,and abusive.He did not even want this young independent woman to work.
Everything weighted fairly, in my opinion,I blame Mutua for the marriage debacle.That said, and knowing what I know about them from the media, the two should not have tied the knot.
And the take away from this is, TAKE TIME TO KNOW YOUR POTENTIAL PARTNER.A least 4 years.
