Nairobi-based Lawyer Boaz Nyakeri Stabbed to Death in Ongata Rongai

Police have opened a probe into the murder of Nairobi-based lawyer Boaz Nyakeri.

The attorney was reportedly walking home in Ongata Rongai on Saturday morning in the company of his cousin when they were ambushed by an assailant.

Nyakeri was stabbed in the neck and was rushed to Sinai Hospital before being referred to Kenyatta National Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

His cousin, who was also knifed in the arm as he tried to save the deceased, was treated and discharged.

Initial investigations show the two had left a party near Osoita Lodge and were walking home at around 5:00 am when a man trailed and attacked them before fleeing. The motive for the attack remains unknown and no arrests have been made.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) through its CEO Mercy Wambua condemned the attack and called for speedy investigations to bring the culprits to book.

The society also urged the government to put in place strategies to ensure that advocates, magistrates, judges as well as all court officials are provided with adequate security and protection.

Wambua said this would shield them from any form of harm, threats, intimidation, and attacks that may arise as a result of the nature of their work.

"The society also urged the government to put in place strategies to ensure that advocates, magistrates, judges as well as all court officials are provided with adequate security and protection". This useless organization is explicitly saying that the rest of the population should not be protected.

Kenyan is not owned by lawyers alone! It seems we all have to jump every time something happens to a lawyer in kenya!? All Kenyans are important and they are all stakeholders of the country! We all need defined security for all!

Personal security begins with self! You can’t be walking home in the dark and expect to be safe! A lawyer should know there is a risk in doing that kind of stuff!
