Man in Custody for Allegedly Using Nude Photos to Extort Sh42,000 from UDA Politician Jackline Mwenesi
A Nairobi court has allowed police to detain a man accused of extorting money from a female politician over alleged nude photos.
Tyson Wabuti Emitekho is said to have sent text messages and nude photos to Jackline Mwenesi Lukalo before demanding money from her.
Mwenesi, who is vying for the Vihiga County Woman Representative seat on a UDA party ticket, allegedly sent a total of Sh42,000 to the suspect for fear of being exposed.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) filed a miscellaneous application at Milimani law courts seeking to detain Wabuti at Muthaiga police station for four days in order to conclude investigations. But Magistrate Jane Kamau gave orders for three days.
The court heard that Wabuti has been blackmailing Mwenesi by threatening to expose alleged nude photos of her with young men.
“The complainant showed me the nude photos that the respondent sent to her on WhatsApp and Twitter. The respondent went further to demand money. For fear of being exposed, the complainant sent Sh5,000 to the respondent and another Sh37,000 in cash,” DCI officer John Kamitu told the court.
Kamitu says Mwenesi reported the matter to the DCI after she got tired of the extortion game that went on for too long.
Wabuti, who was arrested by DCI detectives on March 19th, was charged with demanding property by written threats contrary to Section 299 of the Penal Code.
