Ruto Aide Reads Riot Act to Public Servants Over Corruption

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has made it clear that public officials will be held accountable for corruption in their area of work.
Koskei affirmed that there will be no exceptions to this stern rule and that the fight against graft in government will not be taken lightly. He regretted that corruption has become such a commonplace occurrence that it is even incorporated into the budgets of various institutions.
"It is important to note that the excuse of orders from above will not be acceptable as justification. Clean up your act and it shall be well with you. You have a civic and professional duty to say no to unlawful instructions. The law protects you," he said.
Koskei was addressing a gathering of administrative secretaries, financial representatives, account supervisors, internal auditors, and supply chain executives at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete on Wednesday, June 21. He said President William Ruto is dedicated to creating a public service that is effective, productive, and oriented towards citizens. He insisted that civil servants must declare their assets every two years. He, however, said there is a disparity between what one declares and leading a lifestyle that exceeds the wealth declared.
He further stated that the nation's progress is contingent upon the way public officials manage the resources entrusted to them by the people. He continued to say that the goal to transform the country is in danger from the wide-reaching and damaging vice of corruption that has permeated all sectors of government. Koskei argued that the President, in response to this, has declared that he will lead a resolute and continued battle against corruption.

Corruption should be dealt with head-on with Ruto being in the forefront each an everyday posting issues on how he's dealing with it. He can't just sit and allow his close allies run rampantly taking money and then claim technical hitches during procurement of such deals. Public funds as well as personal property should be left as such. Uchumi Haina huruma, but haituwezi.
