Inside Joe Biden's 30-Minute Phone Call With President Ruto

President William Ruto engaged in a phone conversation with President Joe Biden of the United States on Tuesday evening.

During the call, President Biden expressed his gratitude to President Ruto for spearheading the United Nations-sponsored multinational security mission in Haiti, a nation plagued with gang violence. The call gave President Biden the chance to hail President Ruto for ingeniously overseeing the Africa Climate Summit which took place last month. It provided the much-needed forum for enhanced agreement concerning climate change across Africa and laid the groundwork for the forthcoming United Nations Climate Change Forum, slated for Dubai later this year.

Both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the United Nations Security Council's decision to approve Kenya's request to lead the mission in Haiti. A statement from the White House provided a summary of the conversation, stating, "President Joseph Biden, Jr. spoke today with President William Ruto of Kenya to thank him for responding to Haiti's call to serve as the lead nation for the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission. They welcomed yesterday's successful vote at the United Nations Security Council authorising the MSS to bring relief to the people of Haiti who have suffered for far too long at the hands of violent criminals,"

Kenya has displayed its preparedness to foster peace and stability in Haiti, where the populace has fallen victim to the cruelty of violent thugs for a protracted duration of time. Alongside the African Climate Summit, the two leaders engaged in discussions concerning alternative approaches to spurring regional security, mutual prosperity, and sustainable growth through fresh investments, job creation, and sustainable development. The United States has committed to supporting this mission financially and in various other ways, as outlined in a recent agreement between Kenyan Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin Lloyd J. Austin III.

Kenya has solidified plans to send 1,000 troops to help bring stability to Haiti. The mission is expected to enlist additional troops from other countries as well. Port-au-Prince, the capital city, is currently ensnared in violence caused by organized gangs. This violence has created dangerous living conditions for children and has included the abduction of local and foreign individuals on assignments.
