Ruto Commends Diaspora Contribution to Kenya's Economic Advancement

President William Ruto has expressed his appreciation for the valuable contributions made by Kenyans residing overseas in the growth of the nation's economy.

Ruto's leadership recognizes the critical involvement of Kenyans abroad and cherishes their staunch ties to their roots. During his speech at the launch of the Diaspora Investment Conference at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Ruto applauded the positive impact of the Kenyan diaspora towards their native land in decolonizing, democratizing, and globalizing the country's economy. The administration remains committed to nurturing a discourse that enriches the objectives of citizens abroad, by cementing formidable and secure protocols to oversee their interests and welfare.

Ruto reassured Kenyans living abroad of their safety in their host countries, encouraging their active involvement in the socio-economic development of Kenya. He calls for the integration of each person's contribution to the economy to strengthen the nation, whether locally or internationally. He reinforces the need for collaboration in the nation-building effort for the benefit of all levels of society. Additionally, he discussed the digitization of services, enabling Kenyans worldwide to access them without the need for specific location visits.

In December 2022, the President pledged to decentralize, automate, and digitize a range of government services. Ruto clarifies that the objective is to offer the Diaspora convenient online access to these services, eradicating the need for them to undertake lengthy travels for consular aid. Concerning the diaspora, Ruto declared the triumphant execution of a completely operational Mobile Consular Service initiative, which has successfully reached 22 nations and assisted more than 9,000 Kenyans living overseas.

Ruto also emphasized the significance of the Global Labour Market Strategy, a framework designed to enhance job prospects for Kenyans abroad, with a specific focus on the younger generation.

We want corruption of all forms to come to an end! Also stop borrowing like there is no tomorrow for the future generations. A debt laden country cannot prosper. Kenya is beckoning the economic danger zone because of debt.
