Kenyans Raise Sh2.5 Million for 13-Year-Old Cancer Warrior Bianca Wambui in One Hour

In a rare show of unity and compassion, Kenyans on Wednesday night raised a whopping Sh2.5 million in one hour for 13-year-old cancer warrior Bianca Wambui.

This came after the girl, who was diagnosed with breast cancer, shared her story when she appeared on Citizen TV’s JKL show on Wednesday night alongside two other cancer patients.

Wambui told the show host Jeff Koinange that she had had a mastectomy but no chemotherapy due to lack of funds.

“Nakaa nyumbani tu…ningependa kupona na nirudi shuleni…Niliacha kwenda shule…siwezi kwenda nikiwa hivi; wengine wanasema niko na titi moja na hawawezi cheza na mimi,” a teary Bianca said.

“Naskia vibaya kwa sababu watoto shuleni wanasema nikiwakaribia nitawapea cancer…” she added.

Her family had only managed to raise Sh12,000 through Mpesa Paybill number 918675 with account name Bianca Wambui.

However, 20 minutes after the Paybill was shared on Citizen TV, the figure hit 503,500 and over Sh2 million in about one hour. Kenyans were touched by her story.
