Raila Won't Be on the Ballot in 2022, Kalonzo Musyoka Assures Supporters

In a bid to rally the Kamba community behind Raila Odinga, National Super Alliance presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka has assured Ukambani leaders and supporters that Odinga will not be on ballot in 2022 presidential elections.

The Wiper Democratic Movement leader said that the deal is that Raila will not contest for the country's top seat in the 2022 poll. Instead, Kalonzo said that he will be the automatic Nasa flag bearer in 2022.

Speaking during a retreat for all Ukambani leaders allied to the opposition, Kalonzo asked the leaders to rally behind Raila and drum support for his bid in the repeat poll set for October 17th.

“I want to assure you my brother Odinga will not be on ballot. We have talked about it and we agreed that he will be supporting me,” he told a host of Ukambani leaders on Monday.

The Wiper leader added:”Let us work as a team and deliver for NASA so that we can have the rewards in 2022. This is real.”

An MOU that led to birth of NASA, Raila agreed to be a one term President, after which he will hand over the mantle to another Nasa leader.

Kalonzo is facing resistance from a section of leaders led by former Kitui Senator David Musila, who has been leading a rebellion in the region.

Musila and his team have vowed to rally the Kamba community behind President Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming election.

Mr. Kalonzo, you really believe that? We shall see, it is the same story you have told your community every election time and it has never happened. Wait and see, even if Raila does not stand in 2022 due to age, he will back Mudavadi, every one could see clearly that, that deal was sealed behind your back, I mean every one except you. Don't you even see that Mudavadi was the big benificially from the last elections. The best you can hope for is to be his DP for the sake of Kamba vote. Musila is right.

Mr. Kalonzo I dont understand your reasoning here,You are worried about 2022?, First of all you need to deal with the issue at hand-- the Oct.17th. Election. Come 2022 The Akamba will have frash leadership and I highly doubt whether you will be one among them
