Foreign Diplomats Support Proposed Dialogue Between President Uhuru and Raila

Foreign diplomats have thrown their weight behind the six-month national dialogue between Jubilee and National Super Alliance (NASA) being proposed by clerics and members of the private sector starting January, 2018.
United States, United Kingdom and German envoys, who have been pushing for dialogue on Thursday welcomed the move, saying it would avert the looming ethnic and political divisions in the country.
In a joint statement, Ambassadors Robert Godec (US), Nic Hailey (UK) and Jutta Frasch (Germany) said dialogue was essential in driving Kenya forward.
“We strongly support the proposal by business and religious leaders for a national conversation to openly and transparently address issues of national interest involving all Kenyans,” Frasch said.
President Kenyatta and the opposition leader have, however differed sharply on what talks between then should be premised on. While Odinga has maintained the discussions must mainly focus on electoral justice and a fresh presidential poll, Uhuru on the other side say talks must be devoid of politics and should only be about development.
“I applaud and strongly support business and religious leaders’ statement calling for a sustained, open and transparent national conversation involving all Kenyans to build national unity and address long-standing issues,” Godec said.

All national dialogue and national debate belong in the national assembly-the Parliament. That is what happens in these diplomats countries because they respect their constitution and unlike Raila, they don't insult theirs shouting, constitution my foot!!

I second your comment. Parliament is the place to advance national dialogue. When English and Scottish differs in their agenda they turn to their constitution,Courts and parliament to resolve their differences. Kenyans should emulate them. Witchcraft, stone throwing and other threats are never solution to national problems

Elections are over there should not be debate re: elections. The clerics should be named cos a chunk of them are nothing but politicians with self agendas. As soon as the Kenyan debate is over perhaps we should call for debate in US re: recent tax overhaul and who it benefits, then on to Germany re: migration and assimilation and to UK for Brexit. Get my drift, ask them to stay out.

While Odinga has maintained the discussions must mainly focus on electoral justice and a fresh presidential poll,so you want Mr Kenyatta to resign you can get a third stab in 2017 at the presidency?. You had the opportunity on October 26th, however you alleged that IEBC can not deliver a free, fair and credible election, you also willingly pulled your name out while failing to sign the required document. There were a few votes for you,but not enough to get you to State House, and according to relevant authorities, the election met the constitutional threshold. Next election 2022 august 9th, start getting ready for that one.

True. It's these kind of statements that encourage Raila that soon or later he will get what he wants. Raila and Uhuru simply need to follow the law as written by Kenyan s themselves. No one person has power to call for illegal dialog. When will people learn to follow the law?

Dialogue in Mathare mental hospital is the only one acceptable. Only then will the psychologists assess and determine who is of sound mind. The nutty crazy will be remain contained at the hospital. The sound mind will remain President of Kenya.

Six months of dialogue?! That's a lifetime in the world of politics. Uhuru should maintain his silence and get on with the job he has been voted in to do. Raila can go on drooling for that elusive seat and swear himself in for any presidency his deluded mind opts for. Looking around, there are vacancies for: President of idiocy, president of evasive dreams, president for paving the way to Canaan. These vacancies are up for grabs and needs to be filled in before they are declared void and boycotted. A true democracy is allowing people to live their dreams, wild or otherwise.

@Sokora, that proposal and assessment will be found faulty with irregularity by Raila's camp. Nothing is good enough for this guy and Uhuru should now boss up and get on with the job.

@ Goddy, perhaps if you expand on your question, we may happily enlighten you. Your "wondering" is too vague, neither here nor there! It actually whips up a paradox, for I think most of us wonder the same of you when your leader churns ideas and abandons them with the speed of lighting, yet you lot still support him, I mean look, he has just boycotted another swearing in which he stead fastily assured you that he would be sworn in by end of this year. Who does that?!
