Oburu Odinga Denies Negotiating a Post-Election Pact Between President Uhuru and Raila

Former nominated Member of Parliament Oburu Oginga has denied claims that he is leading a team that has been negotiating a post-election pact for National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga with President Kenyatta.

Speaking to the press, Oburu, who is the elder brother of opposition chief Raila Odinga, said the reports are outrageous and aimed at tainting his reputation.

The veteran politician, who was recently elected to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) to represent Kenya, further noted that he holds no “serious” position in Nasa that would warrant him the crucial task of engaging in a post-election pact with Jubilee government on behalf of the principals.

“It is not true that President Uhuru Kenyatta sent anybody to me for the purported discussions,” added Oburu.

He threatened to take legal action against those peddling the propaganda aimed at splitting the opposition. He, however, Oburu confirmed meeting National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and other Jubilee emissaries twice, but only discussed the vetting of the names of individuals to represent Kenya in the Arusha-based East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
