Kenyans React as Daily Nation Publishes Obituary Bearing Photo of Business Mogul Jimmy Wanjigi

Kenyans woke up to a shocking death announcement on Daily Nation that the bore the image of billionaire businessman Jimmy Wanjigi.

In its obituary section, the leading Newspaper used Wanjigi’s image to announce the death of a businessman identified as James Richard Wanjagi.

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Richard Wanjagi on 30th January 2018 which occurred after a failed armed robbery in Nairobi’s Karen estate,” read the obituary on Wednesday's Daily Nation.

The obituary further described the deceased as the son of James Maina and Wambui Magari and husband to Irene.

It also said the deceased was father to Maina Wanjagi and Wambui Wanjagi, who are currently studying at Institut LeRosey in Switzerland.

The announcement further linked the deceased to Kwacha Industries, one of the companies associated to Jimmy Wanjigi.

Taking to social media, Kenyans online questioned the announcement and how Daily Nation ended up using the photo of Wanjigi.

“Daily Nation, did Jimmy Wanjigi die without our knowledge?” Blogger Robert Alai asked.

“Death Announcement appearing on page 49 of today’s Daily Nation. Today is 7th February, the funeral is to take place on the 6th of February. But that’s not the point,” another Kenyan said.

“To me, it looks like Jimmy Wanjigi published this himself. He paid for it,” Sir Silvesta said.

Karani Mutonga reacted: “From the father, children, wife, home, company it’s all Wanjigi. Apart from the name change to Wanjagi.”

However, in a statement, Nation Media Group apologized for the "erroneously published death announcement."

"We regret the pain and anguish this may have caused Mr Wanjigi and his family," the statement read.

"Nation Media Group does not condone such publication, which clearly goes against our editorial policy."

"We have taken immediate action against those responsible for the placement of the announcement, including reporting the matter to the police for further investigations," the statement read.

Jubilee attempt to scare the guy into compliance .Use any and all means necessary to crush and intimidate for how long or until when?.The guy does not NEED Jubilee money he has his own and the fact that he is using it to humiliate a former classmate and friend is driving this Jubilee govt nuts.Early warning of an early death maybe. However those who rule by the sword also die through it.Expect repercussions

Why can't MWAKILISHI and other papers address jambazi Wanjigi properly,i.e,his real title,KIMUICI?Can all these papers ask Wanjigi to explain how he cpuld afford to finance the 2013 JUBILEE and 2017 terror party's(NASA) campaigns?I just wonder why some Kenyans are worried about the safety of this thug who will be among the first top ten corrupt devils to face the firing squad the day real Kenyans reclaim their country.First will be all killers led by muuaji Raila followed by Moi,Kabogo,Wanjiru,Joho etc.
