Embattled Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter has been charged with 11 counts related to conspiracy to defraud Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

The Jubilee MP was arraigned in court on Monday morning alongside his co-accused Arthur Ingolo Sakwa and Madat Suburali Chatur after they were arrested at CBK head offices in Nairobi on Friday for allegedly presenting fake Treasury Bills amounting to Sh634 million.

Keter, together with the two directors of Desai Industries Limited were charged with 11 counts related to conspiracy to defraud the CBK, making a fake document, forgery and uttering false statements contrary to various sections of the penal code.

However, while appearing before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, the trio pleaded not guilty to the charges. The three were arrested by the Anti-Banking Fraud Unit detectives as they waited to meet CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge. They spend the weekend at Muthaiga police station.

"The three individuals have been arrested for presenting forged Treasury Bills purportedly issued by the CBK in the 1990s," said Wallace Kantai, the director of communications at the CBK. They had reportedly been invited to meet the the CBK governor as part of the process of redeeming the bills. They were each freed on Sh2 million cash bail or Sh5 million bond.

The hearing of the case is set for June 4th.

Ndugu Keter, relax. As long as Anne Waiguru has not been arrested and charged for defrauding our tax payer money in billions, you should know that your arrest was politically motivated. We all know who is putting you through this trying times of your life.

I am not defending you! What I am pointing out is that we know many people who have done worse than you and are still roaming freely in our country enjoying the loot from our treasury.
