Irate Youths Protest, Light Bonfires to Demand Miguna Miguna's Release
Youths in Kisumu's infamous estate, Kondele on Wednesday took to the streets to protest the arrest of self-declared National Resistance (NRM) general Miguna Miguna.
The group, which gathered at around 10am, used huge rocks and lit bonfires, blocking the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway.
They were heard chanting “Hatutaki Mchezo, No Miguna, No peace!” and carried placards demanding the release of the firebrand lawyer, who is currently being detained at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Miguna landed at the JKIA on Monday afternoon, but was denied entry after he reportedly refused to produce the passport he travelled to Kenya in.
Kenyan Immigration officials on Monday night attempted to redeport him back to Canada via Dubai, but Miguna declined to board an Emirates airline flight that was scheduled to carry him.
On Wednesday morning, Miguna alleged that he was being detained in a dirty toilet at the airport, with no food or water.
“I am detained inside a tiny and filthy toilet without access to basic hygiene and necessities of life. The respondents haven’t provided me with food, water, and medical attention in addition to not according me my right to counsel,” said Miguna in a statement.
“I have no access to a bathroom and I have not taken a shower since Sunday, March 25th. The toilet where I am being held has no shower or bathtub. There is only hot water in the toilet, hence, I am also unable to wash my face and brush my teeth,” he continued.
He has not been freed despite a Tuesday order by the court directing for his immediate release.

Miguna I watched videos of you yelling out loud in a plane ... anyone who can listen to you you are talking to them but still screaming out loud.. the pilot didn't care if your court order he refused to read it when u handed to him...?i saw you hit the plane walks soooooii bad... who hurt? Stop screaming! We can all hear you! Your Canadian passport ama the passport you travelled from Canada -us of A -London .. at those points of entry u were very submissive and produced your travel docs. But ukafika jamhuri ... u started causing drama! Now why I love kwenye Niko the law of the land ni lazima u follow.. (even tarnishing someone's name is an offence) but I love kenya lol... those cops 👮 they also do there job. I got mishandled not coz they are bad coz u are causing mayhem/trouble / nonsense.
Ama u use your Canadian passport kuingia AU countries na kitabu ya jamhuri to enter Nai. Anyways they had already consficated it prior .. so all u needed to do is get inn on tourist visa kama sisi wote then file an order to have ur kenya roots +passport reinstated...
