30,000 Kenyans to be Recruited to Government Agencies

More than 30,000 Kenyans are set to land government jobs as the Ministry of Public Service looks to fill up vacancies in the sector.

The massive recruitment comes after it emerged that several State agencies are facing acute shortage of staff due to mass exit into the private sector, brain drain and retirement.

Civil service data shows that there are 63,368 staff currently working with the government against the required 96,036, creating a shortage that has crippled the delivery of services in state offices.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia has directed various government ministries to carry out a comprehensive review of staff strength and submit a report by September 28th.

The review will be used to guide recruitment of the new staff to different government agencies.

Last year, the National Treasury suspended recruitment in the public service to allow for replacement of ageing workforce and address the high unemployment levels among the youth.
