Two Nairobi Businessmen Arrested as DCI Sleuths Bust Fake Gold Syndicate

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested two Nairobi businessmen in connection with a fake gold scam.
The two, Jackson Maina and Awuyene Mbombo were apprehended after sleuths from the DCI’s Special Crime Unit (SCU) raided house No. 91 in Nairobi’s Convent Drive, Lavington on Thursday.
During the sting operation, detectives impounded four metal boxes containing fake gold nuggets, assorted stamps, and gold smelting equipment.
The DCI through Twitter on Friday said Maina and Mbombo, who are directors of Airlink Freight Limited, conned a foreigner of millions of shillings between October 26th and November 16th.
The two had allegedly promised the Burkina Faso citizen that they could sell him gold.
Members of the public who may have fallen victim to the con job have been asked to file reports at the DCI’s SCU offices at Mazingira complex on Kiambu Road.
Maina and Mbombo are being held in police custody pending arraignment in court on Monday.

HUSTLER NATION...or CONMEN AND THIEVES NATION?
But also, how naive are people out there thinking that Kenya has enough gold mines?
Greed is why people get conned.
